What is your vision for SP; why do you participate
I believe in the concept of Smart People. I am a professional knowledge management consultant, and my vision includes both organizational and personal knowledge management. In my opinion, the Smart People concept includes valuing others for themselves as well as their knowledge. So I consider it a good thing to do, as well as a smart way to be.
Tell us about you
I'm a KM consultant with almost 20 years of experience in government and private sector consulting. I work at the Pentagon for the US Army. I'm a board member of several KM organizations, and recently I launched the Federal KM Initiative, under the auspices of the Federal KM Working group. This initiative is aimed at the objective of establishing a Federal Knowledge Management Center.
I am a Foodie, and created the Foodie Craze Trivia game, available at foodiecraze.com. I am married and in lieu of children, we have two goldendoodle puppies, Jack and Josie.
I'm currently completing a Ph.D. in the Taos-Tilburg program. My thesis is entitled: Knowledge Management: Battleground for the Soul of the 21st Century Organization. It basically contends that there are several competing discourses within KM, a modernist, traditionalist one and a future oriented, postmodernist one. This conversation is a microcosm of the larger discourse taking place in organizational theory in general.
